    Friends For Life

"Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. Rescue the weak and needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked."

Our motto, “Friends for Life”, is a statement of our commitment to homeless families in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia where we operate.  The homeless families we serve aren’t merely charity cases – they are our friends, co-workers, brothers and sisters in Christ.

We hope, with God’s Grace, to bring total restoration to these homeless families.  To accomplish our vision of total restoration, we rely completely on the leadership of the Holy Spirit.  In execution, we apply best practices and proven methodologies to address the multitude of challenges that homeless families face.

Says the Ward Family Foundation, leaders in homeless research: “The services offered least frequently (in shelters) are vocational training, spiritual guidance and post-shelter outreach services. These services represent potential gaps in service offerings.”

It is our Mission to address those issues with a unique solution for each family for a total turn-around in order to achieve true, lasting success. We endeavor to go all the way to a comprehensive solution, taking as many months or years as required, and focusing on the family’s unique stumbling blocks.

    Objectives:

      1. Our first aim is to “teach a man to fish”, but this Mission acknowledges the need to sometimes carry a man down to the edge of the water.
      2. Our secondary aim goes much further: to help families live a full life, with the kind of abundance that Jesus came to give.
      3. Our final aim is that this family then serves the ones behind it, and does so for the love of God and neighbor.
